Today's reading includes a passage from Matthew 5:13-20 where Jesus encourages us that His reason for coming is to fulfill what God has said and inspire us toward the future. I love the way The Message translates one verse, "Long after stars burn out and earth wears out, God's law will be alive and working."
Yes. That's what I believe and is why I think the best course is following His word without regard to the ways of others.
When I get into a difficult time (and they come to all of us), I find that time alone with Him and this Word\Law is what sustains my soul and fills my days with hope again. Too many times I have found my plans falling short, only to find that His plan is still at work - operating by His laws.
That's why He told Abraham, when Abe was getting impatient and wondering "when" and "how" God's promise to him was going to take place, to "go outside and look at the stars...".
He who created and holds all things in place and has revealed to me how to stay in tune with it - live by His laws. Now, will I? The stars will be in place all day and night today (even if clouds obscure their presence). I will be in mine, too. Waiting for His appearing and blessing.
